So, I've went to clean the thermal paste off and renew. Cooler stuck to cpu. So I turn the pc on and let it heat up. Give it a twist. Seems to twist. Give it a pull. Nope, out comes the cpu and the cooler. So a couple of bent pins. I straighten them out, and plug back in. Now when I insert the cpu the lights on the keyboard come on but only when either moved or the arm is closed.

I now have no output whatsoever. So it seems new cpu time (cry emoji), or is it? Could it be the motherboard?

Also,any other fixes before I spend £170 :/

I would make sure all the bent pins are actually straight, even if they are slightly off they might not make contact with the socket properly.

As above make sure all the pins are as straight as possible.. One of the pins on my Ryzen CPU was bent by the smallest amount which caused this issue when building my system

Ive double, triple checked. They may be, nearly impossible to tell.II've just tried a 3300g and the same symptoms. But this may not work with my mobo anyway?

Have you closely inspected none of the motherboard pins aren't bent either?

What cpu/mb do you have?

This happens all the time to me, or used to, I normally now run 15 mins of prime or IBT to get the CPU nice and hot, soften the paste a little before quickly shutting down, the cooler usually comes off with ease then, but if the chip does come out with the cooler, dont try and use the socket to get it off, just gently slide the chip off the bottom of the cooler, or use a retractable knife to cut it off.

strange that neither chip is working, have you tried clearing the cmos ? any bios flashback on the board ? which board is it ?

Yeah so, I thought I'd have a bash at removing the plastic cpu guide (I mean I did watch a YouTube video) and it snapped in half :p.

I've ordered a new motherboard. :/

@Zefan convinced me it was the right thing to do....
