Hi All,

Recently i have been having problems when playing games where it will semi crash and minimise the game and just show a white screen. i can ctrl alt del out of it and end the process and the computer works fine, but i only get this problem when running games or graphic intensive things.

I have tried uninstalling the latest drivers and installing the newest and slightly older versions but to no avail.

is my GPU Dieing? any ideas?

Cheers

The WSOD (white screen of death) is generally driver issues (I have only recently heard about this problem, so I did some research). Try a complete uninstall of your drivers with ccleaner and then go for a reinstall after a reboot.

Hope this helps.

Sorry about missing off specs.

HIS ATI Radeon HD 6970 2048MB
Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge)
Asus P8P67 Intel P67 (Socket 1155)
XFX 750W XXX Edition Modular '80 Plus Silver' Power Supply
G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz

Both CPU and GPU are at stock, the cpu is at around 45 deg and the gpu at around 75 deg

I take it your gpu's temp 75c is at load?

1st i'd try gregsters suggestion, uninstall drivers then use ccleaner or driver sweeper to remove left over traces then reinstall.

Then i would check all connections in pc, mainly power to gpu and mobo, take out gpu and ram and reseat.

If still giving problems give the core and vram on your gpu a little voltage bump.

yeah 75c under load.

well uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and no joy. so bit the bullet and reinstalled windows (needed to anyway) and still no joy. getting the exact same problem

so looks like its dead!

so the next question is, what graphics card shall i buy to replace it? 7970 or 670?

I might be biased but... get a 7970.

It kicks serious ass these days.
