Possibly the coolest program I have ever seen!

Microsoft research budget > any government information technology budget (with the exception of defensive and offensive technology).

Governments buy this kinda thing, they don't develop it in house, they might change it after the technology has been purchased.

With the exception of the atom bomb most government just buy stuff from companies.

Look at Lockheed Martin etc

I questioned this, but it seems you're right- Microsoft's budget is about double that of the American National Security Agency, who are bigger in funding and personnel than the CIA. Impressive.

Help me pick my jaw up
That's just knocked me out with its Awesomeness, The potential is massive

That is truly stunning, but how long before it's available..

Make sure you watch the second half. Much better than the first half.

The other lectures on the Ted site are going to keep me busy for weeks. Ive just watched about fractal patterns in african villages, and the planning for a mission to Europa and to mine ice on the moon.

seen it before but expect Microsoft DESKtop to take on new meaning in their products with the new technology they are bringing out.

basically desk as monitor and interactive digital desk thing with the features like what was in the link.

btw clarification - photosynth thing can build 3d model from different 2d photographs of same object? Very very cool if so.

I isntalled the program

Looks like a bunch of dlls to me.

This is the kind of thing I'm looking into doing for my final project at uni, but leaning more towards the human interaction with such software.
