There are loads of people who are calling for the removal of post counts. I'm unconvinced this really makes a difference. I'm not asking if you want them removed, just whether they make a difference to you personally.

Poll required:

Post count... keep it?

Yes
No
Pancake

(this last option seems to be the default 'other' answer at the moment)

I think that post counts are generally a good thing. It lets you know how much of your life you've wasted on the forums when you could've been doing something more productive like, erm, something I can't think of right now!

How would the MM/trust work without post counts? What about the current avatar system?

Postcounts are still there, they just wouldn't be displayed.

Not bothered at all.

Mind you, it's not like I'm a prolific poster anyway.

Which has just made me look at mine... how the bejesus have I managed nearly 1,500 posts??!!

I'd have said I was closer to 300 :-/

Keep it. Higher postcount usually denotes someone is to be trusted more (else they'd have already been banned) and have more experience in the subforums.

+1 on that. I also factor in when the user registered as well. This is usually a good way of seeing whether someone can be trusted more.

Oh I see. Makes sense!

I personally infrequently look at post counts, usually if someone's posting in a retarded manner and only to satisfy that either they're a n00b, or acting like a spiv and should know better.

Not really sure it makes that much of a difference either way. Some people like it, some don't. Spam usually is deleted anyway, so leave it as is.
