Heres the problem, the PC was working perfectly fine, and has been fore a couple years, but today we had to take the side of the case off to check if it has pci or pci-e slots open, after we checked and put the side of the case back on, the compter no longer POSTs.

This being an old titan vantage from OcUK, it doesnt have any sort of on montherboard display to indicate error codes, and it doesnt get to the beep, so it doesnt beep error codes either. We tried removing one of the 2 ram modules, and switching them around, and tried in different sockets, but it still wouldnt post. All cables are securely attached, all fans work (gfx card fan spins at full speed, it normaly slows down after POST, but its not doing this).

One possible cause we think may be the culprit is the headphones, which were rested on a TV which we turned on just before unpluging the computer cables, the static on the TV when turned on was enough to phsyically pull the headphone cable dangling down infront. Could this have been enough static to induce some sort of current in the headphones and short out the onboard audio, thus destroying the motherboard?

If the headphones are not the problem, then we have no clue what could have caused it because we didnt touch anything inside the case when we checked what sockets were unused.
