Hi,

Just picked up what appears to be a decent system at a fair price, I'm not big on gaming though like to dabble, do odds and sods with media conversion etc I feel I'm just an average PC user all in all.

The systems an acer aspire M5100

comprising of a Phenom 9500 Quad core, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd etc complete with 19" tft, it's local so I'm able to inspect and collect in person but from the pictures mailed to me it's spotless.

I was planning on adding either 2 x 1tb or 2 x 1.5tb's just after chrimbo and changing the current gpu from the 9600 gso to a pre owned 4850/70 or 8800GTS(G92) which for a 1440 x 900 res should suffice for casual gameplay

I know that as a pre built system the motherboard will have limited if any options to allow any O/C to having looked around I see there's that nice AMD software which can be used within windows to do this.

I wondered if anyone here had experience of the chip ? I'm aware a Q6 would have been better but I simply wanted to pick up a one box solution as opposed to going down the route of buying parts, I've owned 775kit in the past and know how good it is, I've also had a 920 @ 4ghz before now but really was just willy waving at the time, now I'm happy using my laptop but sometime wish I just had a little more storage space and some extra grunt when encoding.

I paid less than £200 for the lot btw

Hi,

I think that might be from an earlier revision as there's no mention of quad support etc, I realise the psu won't be up to much and I'll look into the cards you've mentioned, of course another benefit of those cards is it'll be fairly easy to switch them to passive cooling.
