Hi guys for the last couple of months my pc has been doing a strange and annoying thing everytime it boots.
What happens is it boots up normally and goes through the ASUS logo then before it gets to the xp loading screen it goes to a black screen with a flashing underscore on it. This is normal but recently it has been staying at this screen for 2-3 minutes?
It is like it is searching for something.
Here is my system
AMD 64 athlon 3700 (socket 939)
4gb of corsair ram
ASUS a8v deluxe motherboard (has original bios installed on it)
2x 160gb IDE hard disks
2 x optical drives
The only thing that has changed recently is the addition of a second optical drive.
However they have the correct jumper settings and they are instantly seen in the BIOS as the correct configuration. i.e master and slave as i have set them to be
I am very confused
