Mine is stock currently (615), I'm debating whether to sell it on at profit (paid £250) or DSA it cause I'm not impressed with the performance compared with my old 260-216 ssc (675mhz) it runs A LOT hotter, 15 degrees hotter! (260 never went above 70 degrees) and it doesn't score as high on 3d mark etc..

Just wondering what clocks I'm likely to reach if I decided to over clock instead of get rid?

Cheers,

G

Mine does 702/1458/1350 24/7, 738/1512/1350 for benchmarks

asus gtx 280 - case fans on lowest settings except for benchmarking

every day
- Core Clock: 650MHz
- Shader Clock: 1404MHz
- Memory Data Rate: 2300MHz

Those seem like nice temps, mine runs about 80-85 max on stock with fan on auto :/

If I reseated the heatsink would it void my warranty?

Yes in a word. But if you did it right who would know? ;)

My current clock under water:

700 Core
1458 Shaders
2430 mem

Scores 19157 in 3dm06 with an overclocked E8600 at 4.4ghz.

Think I'm gonna sell/send mine back tbh. I'm very dissapointed. Just been testing it in game and it is a good 10% slower than my 260.

Pretty much ditto for my BFG OC. Gets a wee bit hot with the fan on auto, but stays frosty with it on full blatter.

Interestingly, I have a sever underclock setting for when the machine is idle (doesn't always automatically throttle back after a 3d game....and dontcha just wish there was a "gpu off, vga mode only" button)....and accidentally ran some games with it engage.....despite the card being set to about half it's factory speeds, it got to virtually to same temps as it would do at stock....or even with a medium overclock).

Dunno about it being slower than a 260. Is it like the 8800GTS vs GTX? where the 280 has more shaders but slower clocks and the 260 has fewer shaders and higher clocks? If so, some games will run worse on the "better" card, only those that have enough going on to need all the extra shaders will really benefit.

Got my gainward yesterday and looked at OCing this morning. Never really OCed a graphics card before (using EVGA precision), but i would like to push the shaders as far as possible (the card will be mainly used for F@H, where shader speed is more important). I presume that everything will be fine as long as temps are kept in check? I am aiming to get to around 1450 to start with - so far at 1375 stable with temps below 65C at full folding load (fan set to 60%).

EDIT: Other than running F@H, is there another way to check the shader clock is stable (furmark etc)?
