Post Your Garden!

I was hoping to get the lawn looking a bit better this year, but it'll do for now and will go at it again next year.

How it was..

A bit of scarifying..

and now..

It never ends :(

The weather has affected the garden in ways I’ve not seen before. The acorns are massive and keep hammering the house everytime they fall. Then this Yucca has flowered outside like I’ve never seen before:

It’s not just acorns, there a loads of trees which have what I can only describe as tiny apples on them where I live. They all have 3-4 times as many on them and they are making a right old mess because nothing eats them other than insects.

I’ve swept up hundreads off my driveway from my neighbours tree alone and that’s just a few overhanging branches.

Finally continuing with the garden works after having the raised bed and greenhouse put in in the early spring. It should be finished tomorrow and then I will start the work with planting the border up. Will start with some roses and plum trees and fill it in slowly.

One issue I am having is that the paving slabs are much nicer than existing patio :cry:Temptation to have that replaced next is high...

Will take some photos of the finished garden tomorrow!

So the garden has been finished (for now). This is what we started with few years ago when we moved in:

Although it blocked the view of next doors extension and playhouse, we took down the tree as it blocked all of the evening sun in our garden and we are also not big fans of leylandii trees. This is what we were left with for a while:

And now as of today:

Little test to see how this rambling rose fits:

Plan now is to get fruit trees and plant climbers and other tall plants to block the fence and next doors from the view. I also want to get a shed (or a sauna) for the back corner eventually.

Yes it is path sand, compacts down and should dry off hard enough that we can just brush soil and leaves and whatnot off it without brushing the sand away. It will lighten up with time.

Path sand? Never heard of that, is it mixed with something like cement/adhesive/resin so it doesn't just get disturbed and move around? Need to goggle that.

I honestly don't know as I did not ask more about it. It obviously has something to bound it and the guys doing the work said it is annoying to compact down as it keeps sticking to the tools. It seemed to me to behave much like the type of sand you fill paving slab gaps with but without any smell. All I was told is that it is similar to what they use for paths in those national trust sort of places.

The Chrysanthemums in pots are flowering. Some in the beds too.

These were purchased two and a half years ago as tiny supermarket plants. They overwinter in the greenhouse, get split and repotted each spring.

Lawn topdressed and overseeded on Saturday, perfectly timed for the 5mm of rain it had on it yesterday. Should get the seed off to a good start. A couple of bits are a bit sand heavy where i've tried to level some areas out.

Please can anyone share some photos of any trellis screens they have made, either from square or diagonal trellis or made from roofing battens/timber battens.

Also if anyone has clad over an existing fence/structure, photos would be great please.

Thanks
