Hi all

I have an iPhone 5 and have currently experienced a huge drop in battery life since I updated to iOS 6.1.4. This made me curious about what kind of battery life other people were getting.

If you do post please mention what phone, what kind if apps you have been using, include a screenshot if possible and the version of iOS you are currently running.

Iphone 5 iOS 6.1.4 LTE

Usage: google maps for 15 mins, music player, alien blue for reddit and some light web browsing on safari.

Reset all settings in settings general often cures high battery drain. You'll not lose any info but will have to enter wireless access point passwords etc again.

Take it to the Apple Store (book an appointment online first), they can pull some very detailed battery stats out of the handset and will decide whether to replace it or not based on those.

Thanks for the advice. I have an appointment booked for Monday, I was just curious to see what other people were getting in real life usage as opposed to comparing to the Apple quoted figures.

My battery used to be great, used to come home from work with about 88% remaining. Now it's more like 40 - 50%, If I swiitch 3g off it'll last ages but when 3g is on and I do pretty much anything on my phone I can lose 30% in next to no time, this is just general facebook / safari usage aswell. I'm hoping ios 7 fixes it, if not I'll try restoring

Mine's currently on 10% remaining
Usage - 4 Hours 6 minutes
Standby - 12 Hours 56 mins

Purchased last November.

Let us know how you get on as I may take mine in :)

Could increase a lot with things like iCloud off, having lower screen brightness, email set to manual fetch instead of push, less notifications, no location services etc.

However they are useful

Usage was about 2 hours of music, a few texts and calls, Facebook and net browsing on 3G

That's not bad going with all the features you have enabled. I should have mentioned that my screen brightness is set to 1/3rd (auto brightness is off), email is manual (I have gmail, hotmail and icloud accounts), all location services (even under general-privacy-location services-system services) are turned off except weather and google maps. Wifi and bluetooth are off.

My screen brightness is always at 1/2 and location services is on but I just have 'find my iPhone'

By enabling location services does it include other things even if you just have one service on? (all system services are off)

I also took a few photos last night

No there shouldn't be any location access for the apps you have toggled off under location services. The little arrows next to the selection buttons show if the app has accessed your location within the last 24 hours.

Just done

usage - 4 hours 51 minutes
standby - 1 day 7 hours

To say icloud and push + notifications are on for email and facebook thats pretty good. Im sure with icloud off and fetch I could get 2 days standby. Maybe a bit extra with find my iphone off

Just an update from me. I went to the apple store and the genius there did a scan on my phone using their behaviour scan app. It said that my battery health was fine so he recommended that I try a DFU reset.

I just did the DFU reset and have installed my apps from scratch (which is good because I had accumulated a few that I never really used). I will post a screen later once my battery is low enough. Hopefully this has cured my issues.

I have also turned off locaton services completely and also turned off push for hotmail, icloud and facebook (facebook notification badges) iCloud is still left on though.

Will post battery stats either tonight or tomorrow
