Yikes, are you sure that's not been photochopped? :p

Nope not faked in any way. It's a big improvement over what I used to get; some of the earlier firmwares were causing the thing to reboot itself 4 or 5 times a day. Bloody annoying I can tell you.

Thankfully Netgear seem to have sorted themselves out now. On v2.10.22 at moment.

Yes mine used to do that quite often

I using version 3 (I think) full release seems pretty good most stable so far.

is this just router... or system?

ive never left either on for more than 24hrs... i think im scared it will burn and ill die :p

We're talking about our routers/Internet connection.

Mind you, I hardly ever turn my PC off either :D

Here's a shot from a while back:
I think the router stayed up for 193 days before a Power outage.

My win2k machine regulary stays up for around 20 days before I reboot for whatever reason.

Turning electrical devices on and off constantly is said to cause more damage than leaving them on...

I never turn any computers off (my Powermac's been running 24/7 since I got it over a year ago - obviously it's been rebooted though ;) ). Nothing's exploded yet.

Hi all,

Only had the router (DG834G) running for a couple of weeks and I've been playing about with it quite a bit; upgrading/downgrading, rebooting etc ;)
untitled4bm.jpg

My WAN link seems to stay up for about 30hrs before resetting itself to '00:00:00' - I think this is Pipex renewing my IP address, as I don't seem to notice any router down-time or loss of sync

Could anyone confirm this for me and stop me worrying ;)

Cheers,

SW.

Pipex do not disconnect you unless there is a maintenance period I am on Pipex and I have been connected for 1000+ hrs.
What firmware you running on the DG834G?
Have you got the timeout set to Zero in the router?

Thanks for the reply shuntfield :)

I'm using the latest firmware; V3.01.25 and the time out is set to '0' in the router.

Everytime the WAN resets I have a new external IP or is that just a coincidence?

Cheers,

SW.
