Hey everyone,

I've been lurking a fair bit, but haven't posted for a while.
I was hoping we could post our top 3 photos from Flickr. Just go to 'Your Photos' and select Popular. Make sure Interesting is selected and then click on each of your images and insert the top 3 (medium size) into this thread along with a brief note about the shot.

You can't actually post the link to the Most Popular page, because only you have access to it.

I wanted a good lightning shot so badly, and now thanks to living in Toronto I got my chance. I still need one of the CN Tower, but my apartment is facing the wrong way and I'm too scared to go out in storms like this!

Toronto Island is a great place to capture photos of wildlife. I got a photo the other day of a Raccoon with the wrong lens at the wrong time of day and it was blurred. I came back the next day with the right settings, the right lens, the right time and this was the result. One of my favourite shots due to the combination of everything coming together and working!

Interesting fact no.1 - None of these shots are taken with my SLR, all taken with my Canon S70.

Interesting Fact no.2 - I never set out to take these photos on the day, the first 2 I took the camera out with me to do some sledging, and at the bottom of the hill there is these trees.

Interesting Fact no.3 - This was taken at a wedding reception, I put my camera on the table for best possible stability.

Most of my interesting photos are from Mongolia, last summer during sport competition called "Eriin Gurvan Naadam" (3 manly sports) The games are wrestling, horse racing and archery.

#Interesting 1
There are 6 races for horses of different ages (Daaga (1 year), Shudlen (2 years) Hyazaalan (4 years), Soyolon (5 years), Ih nas (above 7 years old) and Azarga (Stallion)) and each race has about 400 horses in average participating.
The distance is usualluy 15-30kim depending on age (Daaga (15km), Soyolon(25km), Ih Nas(30km) etc. The riders are usually 5-12 year olds.

Near the finishing line. The speed, passion, power, determination of the horse and the child.

#Interesting 2
Mongolian wrestling is very much like sumo wrestling but without the ringout!
It is the most famous sport and enjoyed by everyone of all ages.
There is no weight limit / age restrictions. The competition consists of over 1024 wrestlers and 10 knockout stages to reach the final.

This photo shows the taller wrestler the 2005/06 champion ready to defent his title, the shorter and fatter wrestlers have dominated the wrestling scene in mongolia during the 90's.

This place is called Tsahirt, the remotest part of Arkhangai region in Mongolia. Situated northwest from the capital city of Ulaanbaatar (about 1000km).
In these nomad steppes your next door neighbour lives around 30km away.

Unspoilt land, fresh air, real freedom.

This was taken at an OcUK Trackday meet at Oulton Park in 2005. It's a BMW M3 CSL owned by one of the forum members; it's one of my best panning shots. Lens used was a Canon 100-400L IS at 100mm at the back of the circuit.

Photo 2
A macro photo of a Hover Fly taken using a Canon 100mm Macro lens, all 3 Kenko extension tubes and a Canon Macro ring flash. I'm quite pleased with this image but ideally I would have preferred focus to be 1mm behind where it is to show the eye in more detail.

Photo 3
This is a HDR photo of the Villa in Spain we stayed in during our holiday last year. The grounds are cluttered with sun beds etc but the purpose of the shot was to remember it how it was.

You'll have to excuse me. I don't know how to directly insert the image from www.flickr.com

But hopefully you'll be able to see my not so very good photos. But these are the best ones I have taken on a Ultra compact digital camera so gimme some credit :p

I think on the whole, my Paddington Station photograph is my best to date. I applied some post processing just to see what I could come up with a while back and it looked awesome so I might give that another go.

Thanks.

Whappers.

Wow - there's some brilliant images here!

Here's my most popular:

1) Fortunately this is also my favourite - taken the other week on Blackpool Promenade. Although it looks like I went overboard on the post-processing, I only moved the histogram to the right to boost the colours.

2) I nicked this idea from someone else (POTN forums I think)

3) I'm not too keen on this one, but some people seemed to like it! It was a very quick grabshot for Project365 on the way home.

This is an HDR from 3 seperate JPG's - though it turned out quite well :)

2> My entry for the Still Life comp. Taken on an incredibly still day while out on a MBR ride. 10 seconds later a fish surfaced and put ripples all the way accross the water.

3> another HDR from Dovestones Resivoir taken on Christmas Eve. I quite like the people in this one as it gives a sense of scale.
