I posted a parcel to someone on 2nd June via Recorded (Signed For) First Class which has still not arrived. I would have thought it be delivered by friday, can it take longer sometimes, possibly until mon or tues.

Can this be tracked or a way of me finding out if someone has signed for it.

This is all it shows on the order info...

Recorded only shows proof of delivery when it has been delivered. It does not offer tracking.

Thanks. Where abouts will it show proof of delivery?

When I press the track it just says this

"Your reference number is too short. Please check you are using the correct number."

You need the receipt you got from the post office when you dropped it off. It will have the tracking barcode number on it.

you get the tracking number when you drop it at the post office, you won't have one the way you did it

At work there is a book with records of signed postage. There is nothing in there from 2nd June, but as I printed the postage online and stuck it on then there wont be anything will there? How come when you print postage online you dont get a tracking code? I paid for signed delivery so how do I find out if someone has signed for it?

Yes, and the reference number you get from the post office is usually 13 digits ending in GB. Surely the OP had to go to the post office to actually post the parcel and they would have given him a receipt with the reference number he needs?

-edit- just read that he posted it from work.

Ive just asked the woman who does the post and she does not know about online postage, but thinks I would have been provided one online maybe

I thought you only get a tracking number for recorded delivery and special delivery now.

How do you know when a parcel has been signed for (I send 1st signed) or will it show a signature online?

As there is no entry in your work's recorded delivery book for that day then it seems most lively that the item has not been sent recorded delivery.

It sucks that you paid the correct postage for that service and have not recieved it, but unless it had a 'recorded delivery' sticker on it then it's a bit like putting half a dozen first class stamps on an envelope and putting it into a post box, you would just get the same service as if it had been a single stamp.

First signed is recorded

But just doing the online bit is not enough and you do not get a tracking number online, unfortunately you did not carry out all the steps required ( I made same misteke the first time I used it )

Was I supposed to grab a sticker from the roll we have and write down the tracking number from that? Doh

(I have never done this and sent about 10 things signed from work)

Just my luck its something thats worth £100  Whats to stop the guy saying he never got it and demanding a refund? - I have no way of checking if it arrived anywhere

I'm not sure online proof of delivery for recorded even works properly. I've sent two things in the last few months, and despite knowing they have been delivered the royal mail site still claims they are being progressed through their delivery network :/

They do show online, the only time I have found that it doesn't is when they are sent to a large company and probably not signed for individually
