Postcode 14 LAN initialization bios failure

I'm pulling my hair out. First I can't get motherboard to detect GPU and now can't even get it to post with IGPU.

I'm getting postcode 14

The manual says that postcode 14 is LAN initialization.

Someone please make my day

What does that even mean? (sobs)
I can't find anything about it.

Have you tried resetting the BIOS? Changed motherboard battery? What is the rest of the spec, including make/model of the power supply? Have you made any changes recently?
 
The last thing I did before seeing post code 14 was remove cmos and pin connector. Along with the error code there is 3 beeps. I've tried different ram slots and different sticks.

Before that I had problems booting with GPU and could only boot with igpu. Bios said slots not populated even though they were.
 
That's so old hardware that start by getting new BIOS battery.
Even if it isn't yet dead CR2032 doesn't cost much
And bad BIOS battery is known for causing all kinds of crazy symptoms.

Also PSU could be on its way out if it was standard cheapo.
 
Forgot to leave spec:

Gigabyte GTX 1060 3GB
i5 3570K
Intel z77bh-55k
Nova tech 500w modular

It's older tech but ran extremely well until I ran into problems.

I'll see if I can get a battery replacement. Thank you for suggestion.
 
I replaced battery and I have the same problem.

LAN initialization failed. That means it failed to start the bios setup for onboard ethernet port no? Could it mean the LAN chip has broken? Could it mean the bios chip is broken?

I updated bios successfully before and was able to boot before this happened.
 
You say you've swapped the memory out, but three beeps are supposed to indicate a memory error.

Have you checked the network port? I have seen them shorted out with bent pins.
 
It was literally 2 boots before the bios update. When updating I got a confirmation that it was successful. That said, I've been browsing Intels forums and have found quite a lot of examples of bios update fails rendering the board a brick and people RMAing.

I've tried bios recovery, by removing bios jumper with USB with the bio file, to no avail.

I believe the motherboard is bricked.

Do you think a new bios replacement chip would solve this problem?

Is it even possible to do? Obviously I can't RMA the board now. They don't even provide tech support anymore
 
BIOS replacement is usually possible, and you can get one preprogrammed for under £20.

Unfortunately, it tends to require a soldering iron nowadays.

It'd certainly be cheaper than buying a replacement Z77 motherboard. If you've exhausted all other options it's something I would attempt.
 
I am getting somewhere using a Ch341a programmer and being helped at probably a more appropriate forum.
Whichever way you look at things, the bios is corrupt and needs flashing. If standard recovery methods don't work then the only way is to reprogram the chip using an external programmer. Look for ch341a you can get them cheap off of eBay.

Remember to take a backup of the contents on chip first to save mac ID etc and then use a BIOS dump from another exact model of motherboard.

I'll post a bios dump soon if anyone else has problems with this board and wants to try to reflash it.

When i reprogrammed a bios using the Ch341a programmer i just downloaded the Bios file from Asus web site
