Just installed my evga 1070 and everything seemed to go smoothly. Had a quick bash at tomb raider and all seemed fine. Then loaded up doom, set everything to ultra and had a play. Everything was lightning fast and looked great, then after 15 minutes of play I get a hard lock.

Now I have had issues with doom crashing in the past but never a hard lock requiring a reboot.

I'll continue testing, but does anyone think there could be a problem with my card? Any suggestions on things to test?

What was CPU temp when played DOOM?

Games hard locks can be caused by overheating CPU and RAMs, try underclocking CPU and RAMs a bit and see if it fix hard locks.

PSU is probably about 5 years old but has always been rock solid. Using the latest Nvidia drivers, freshly installed after fitting the new card.

I'm worried there may be some incompatibilities with my old z68 board. Although it is a gen 3 pcie 3 board.

What program is recommended for checking the temps?

GPU is 72c with 99% load playing tomb raider.

A quick look on the net, seems 76c is around the average for my card running full load.

So it seems fine temp wise to me. Don't think there is any issue with the card itself.

Been playing tomb raider for 60 minutes or so and no problems so far....

Can't believe how fast this thing is compared to my old 780.

Played plenty of tomb raider and now Deus Ex mankind divided and not one single hitch.

I guess it's just doom. I have always had crashing issues with that game.

Card is fantastic, unbelievably fast.
