Hey guys,

i have an AMD 4800+ oc'ed to 2.8, now the question is would a 8800GTX be bottlenecked by this processor at that speed? if so what speed would i need to get my cpu to run at to avoid a bottleneck??

Cheers

MM

depends on games really. not long ago the cpu was seen as a bottleneck but then games came out that needed more gfx power,
now we a seeing a trend where performance requirements is falling back onto the cpu (supreme commander) but next month it will fall back onto the gfx card with the release of more gfx demanding games.

the way things currently are, id say that the gpu is mainly the limiting factor, seeing as how people want to run silly extreme hd rez games with huge amounts of AA and AF.
it all comes down to the game really. but id say that your setup is not bad at all, just keep overclocking your cpu till it reaches its limit.

ill be playing the likes of the new C&C with resolution of around 1280x1024 and hopefully in HD also my monitor is 30". im also moving away from my dual x850 cf setup so expecting a big diff.

Have a look at Toms Hardware as im sure that at that Res, a GTX is only slightly fatser than a GTS.
