Hi all,

I've come to OCUK to get the best advice on a new build - After buying several things from OCUK thought it would be best to stick to what I know and the fact they provide the best service.

I'm looking to buy a new gaming rig for around £700. This will be mainly for just gaming. My expertise stops as soon as it comes to actually building the thing so I am unsure of size and how they are compatible etc.

I'm after an i5 2500k sort of set-up with the Radeon 6850 graphics card, here is what I have so far:

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £167.99

MSI ATI Radeon HD 6850 Cyclone Power Edition 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £119.99

Asus P8Z68-M PRO Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £109.99

OCZ ZS Series 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £62.99

Xigmatek Dark Knight CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/1156/1155/1366/754/AMD 939/940/AM2+) £26.99

OcUK Value 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Low-Voltage Dual Channel Kit £23.99

Sub Total : £426.61
Shipping cost assumes delivery to UK Mainland with:

(This can be changed during checkout) Shipping : £10.50
VAT is being charged at 20.00% VAT : £87.42

Total : £524.53

I can use my old HDD from my old budget PC and the Optical drive as well so really if you have any good insight or would like to completely change the build I am all ears.

Cheers.

are the hdd and dvd drive sata ?

what sort of games you looking to play and what resolution do you game at ?

i'd up the gfx card to either the 6870 or the nvidia 560ti.

i'd also swap the mobo to the Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 to allow x8/x8 ccrossfire/sli.

The HDD is - "ATA Device"

The games I'm looking to play are:

Starcraft 2
WoW
BF3
MW3

My decision on the 6850 is looking at benchmark graphs and the 6850, 6870 and 560ti are very close (no personal experience in using them) but the price is the only factor really.

Cheers!

Thanks for the comments.

560Ti over 6850? The price is noticeable I feel. Unless people have seen a significant difference in performance?

Is there an up-to-date definitive spec I could see?

Are your HDD and optical drive connected with these?

If you have £700, then this will eat games.

Thers no SLI option or anything like that, its just a single powerful gfx setup.
