OK so I ordered a bathroom cabinet from eBay and the courier was Yodel. I get a notification on my camera and can see him open his van knock on the door and ring the bell and then shout hello on my driveway. This seemed odd to me that he shouted hello and then rings the bell and tries the door. Delivery drivers in my experience will ring a bell then get going if no answer not shout hello.

He then proceeds to take the two boxes I ordered from his van and leave then next to my garage past the side of my house, no problem.

Then the really strange part is after he has walked past the camera his van empty handed after leaving two boxes he retrieves a wellington boot from his van. He then walks down the front of the house again and past the camera for a little while with said boot. He then comes back with the boot and throws it in his van.

Now where he is walking to is my garage with a side door which was unlocked. I have had a look and can't really see anything missing inside but there's a lot of things not worth a lot (some weights, so bits and bats in boxes a nice bike though but I don't think that fits in his boot.

What is going on here? Why did he take a wellington boot or similar from his van and then walk towards my garage and then back to his van and throw the boot in his van.

He looks really dodgy to me and what's with the boot?

Here are three videos I uploaded.

Vid 1 -
Shows him arrive knock on the door ring the bell and try the door (the video freezes on the upload just as he tries but I can see on my phone)

Vid 2 -
Shows him bring the boxes from his van to near my garage out of site. He takes longer than he should as the boxes were left just out of view and it seems like I can hear my garage side door close and then he skips back to the van to make up time.
It then Shows him retrieve his boot from his van and then walk out of view of the cam towards my garage and then back with the boot in the van

Any ideas please?

Something is going on - I've rung Yodel and sent them the video to investigate, don't appreciate him trying my door but I know it happens. Would like answers about the wellington boot

My first thought was he heard a voice of say an old person shouting for help, so he tried the door and was going to use the boot over his hand to smash the window.

I suspect his attempt to open the door could be to check you weren't there and then used the boot to prop up the parcels. Or maybe he just figured it would be funny to take a pic of a boot in every picture.

The alternative thought when trying the door was because he thought it was an outhouse and a perfect place for the parcel.

Hell, he may even thought the boot fell out of the parcel somehow, and its not even his boot. He might be as confused as us.

Life of a courier, whatever you do the customer will complain.
haha well it seems no one thinks he's dodgy or a criminal. I feel better now.

I'm more interested in why you think a crime has been committed and what crime that is exactly?

I think your jumping the gun massively here and with the cctv now plastered all over the Internet you've likely cost this guy his job for nothing.

Maybe because he tried my door, then brought a wellington boot out of his van and walked towards my unlocked garage where valuables are stored. Took a few moments and came back, it sounded like he opened and closed my garage door. I said potential crime I wasn't accusing anyone just asking what peoples thoughts were on this strange behaviour. He is here to deliver a parcel, not walk around my house off camera near valuables with a wellington boot.

well whatever he was up to, wether it be pouring pee pee on my garden or taking something from my garage I'd rather he didn't mess around my house. Video deleted from YouTube just wanted peoples opinions as I was perplexed and concerned by the unusual behaviour.

I bet there is nothing valuable missing or you would have mentioned it. Nothing broken or damaged either I bet.

You already know no crime was committed and the guy left parcels for you in what he deemed to be a safe place. I doubt anyone would leave a garage unlocked if it had “valuables” stored in it as you claim. And if you did good luck claiming off any insurance policy.

So what we have is the worlds most incompetent criminal who gets caught on camera leaving valuables at the scene of a “crime”. Not only that he left fingerprints and on every door handle on your house, and footprints on the drive.

I often wonder why people order things for delivery knowing there will be nobody at home when a delivery is attempted. Especially for large bulky and usually expensive items. They then complain when the delivery driver refuses to leave it “somewhere safe”. Or they complain when the delivery driver does leave it somewhere safe and it gets stolen. Or even worse, they post publicly available videos of the poor delivery driver doing his job and accuse them of crimes.

Am I the only one thinking you are the problem here, not the delivery driver?

And take a deep breath. I have many things in that garage and would have no idea if something was missing. Just asking for opinions on why a delivery driver came to my house with a welly and getting advice. Just because he left the parcel doesn't mean nothing else happened. Explain the welly. I'm all ears.

What prompted you to check the cctv in the first place after all your parcel was delivered and I assume you got it.

Unless you saw the notification that cctv had been triggered and decided to watch them in real time. Either way its an odd thing to do.
That's the one. I saw notification on my phone and wanted to see if he left the parcel or took it back. Very odd indeed!

I live in a very private area and I order most days and delivery drivers leave items 100% of the time. This guy checked my door then proceeded to do something with a wellington boot. I wouldn't say he's a 'poor delivery driver doing his job'. When he applied for the job I'm sure it said to check people's doors and bring wellys with them to fill up with pee or valuables. Was that in his job description? I was mearly asing GD for ideas on what he's up to. Because he's up to something and it aint just dropping my parcel off is it.

I had an update from the courier yesterday and they told me they spoke to the chap and he needed to wash his welly after seeing my outside tap. Nooo pee just needed to was his welly so we are all good. The guy hasn't robbed me or lost his job but he now has a clean welly, no pee pee I am assured.
