Potential dumb question

I think it's balanced for daylight. There are all sorts of filters available to correct for tungsten & fluorescent lighting.

I don't think there's anything you can do retrospectively like you can with RAW shots.
 
you can get different films which have different sensitivities to light colour, the most common of which would probably be tungsten balance.

Most people however used daylight film and different coloured filters to correct the colour cast where necessary.
