Dear all,

During the weekend, my PC started acting in a weird way with random restarts and the screen going black. From the Event logs, the only errors that I found were related to SCEP.

In terms of troubleshooting the following steps were taken:
DDU the current Graphics Card Driver (Adrenalin 23.2.2) and re-install it. Same Issue remained
DDU the current Graphics Card Driver (Adrenalin 23.2.2) and re-install it (Driver Only). Same Issue remained
Re-Install Windows. PC restarted automatically after like 30 seconds.
Reset the Graphics Card. Above the same issue occurred after like 30m.
When I reinserted the graphics card the MOBO (Asus ROG Strix X470-F) LED went from orange to white, which means that no graphic card is detected or the graphic card is faulty.
Reset CSOM, same issue.

Unfortunately, I don't have another graphics card available to test and my CPU (AMD Ryzen 7 Eight Core 2700X) does not have an onboard graphics card.

My current PSU is 850W SilverStone Strider Platinum Full Modular.

Can anyone suggest any other troubleshooting steps, else which graphics card would you recommend best on the above specs. I don't really have a budget so am open to all options.

Thanks.

I was looking at some graphics cards and the following got my attention:

Anyone that has these cards and can provide some feedback?

Have you checked the paste on your CPU? Has it gone dry? Have you tried putting the GPU into a different slot?

Testing with another GPU is a good ide but just get yourself the cheapest one you can find. Don't worry about gaming performance or anything like that; you're just getting it for diagnostic purposes. Surely there are some in the sub E50 range?

Regarding CPU Paste, it is in good condition.
Graphics Cards for testing, locally cannot find anything, not under 300 euros. Will see if I can find someone with a spare graphics card to rule out if its a graphics card issue.

Ok, with a card of that age it could very well be a bad gpu. I would still boot with anything in before buying a new one just to be safe.

But the 7900xt is a monster of a gpu if buying new

I bought a basic VGA 100 euros, will do some tests, later on, to confirm that it is indeed the graphics card that is faulty.
Will update you later on.

Agree - try a different slot on your motherboard, could also try different modular cables if you got spares with your PSU. Not sure on the PSU itself but you may have alternative modular sockets to try the power cables in for your GPU
remove any OC's on GPU/CPU/RAM if present for testing

Hi again,

So I bought a temp VGA (GT1030) and the PC booted successfully.
Therefore I can conclude that sadly my VEGA VII is dead :(

Can anyone suggest some mid range graphic card that will be ok for games like D3 and WOW. No need to play graphics on max.
My plan was to upgrade my system in Summer, so if I can spare some money now would be better :)

The Radeon VII is roughly equivalent to RX 6600 (XT) / RTX 3060 / Arc A750 sort of performance, so if you don't want an upgrade, then anything like that would do (around £250). Alternatively, you could go for something better and just carry it over with the full upgrade, since it should still work fine in your existing PC for the time being.

I ended up buying an RX 6600 (XT). Will serve me well for the time being.
Later on this year will see what is available and upgrade accordingly.

Thanks everyone for your input.
