Potential issue

Firstly I know IT equipment can be very fickle and this may be impossible to solve over a forum but I thought I would ask.

So I have a FX8320 very mildly overclocked to 4ghz on a ASUS M5A99FX MB.

2 to 3 weeks ago my graphics card stopped working, it was a 6870......before it did this on rare occasions my monitor would go blank despite the pc appearing to continue to run. A re-boot fixed this......

I have 'borrowed' a R9 - 270 and this is in my machine now.

Issue is over the last 2 to 3 weeks the screen had gone blank twice, second time being today.

So now I am paranoid I have a MB / Power Supply issue.......rather than a graphics card issue

Power supply is less than a year old, its an Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 550w

So question is...........do you have any idea why my monitor would go blank and what if anything can I do to track down the issue???

The last thing I want is an issue with the MB / Power Supply taking out another graphics card, or is this just coincidence

When you say go blank, does the pc shutdown??
Have you tried another cable to your monitor??

Screen goes blank, PC sounds like its running, the first time it happened I checked the cable, unplugged, replugged etc nothing.....only comes back when you reboot.

We also tried the 6870 in another machine and it does not work.

Spotify stops playing though, my son tells me that the graphics card does something for sound but I had no idea if this is true.
