Hey all!

I intend to build a new computer in the next month or so and aspire to make it something that is suitably reliable -- I've not got tons of cash to blow, so I'd like to see that what I build will last me some time.

I'll post my current list of items and would like your advice on what I should/shouldn't go with and whether you think you can offer an alternative to any.

I'm open to suggestions and the only thing I need note is that I'm aware there will be the new Bulldozer processors out soon, but I think I'm content with the one I've chosen and don't wish to overspend on my budget. (Oh, and I've stuck with a black theme -- I'm OCD like that.)

In regards to what I'm going to be doing with the machine, well -- mainly games!

Processor:
Phenom II X6 1100T 3.3ghz - Black Edition

Motherboard:
Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7

Graphics Card:
Asus 1GB Radeon HD 6850

Memory/RAM:
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance

Internal HDD:
Western Digital WD1002FAEX Caviar Black 1 TB 7200 RPM

DVD/RW:
Optiarc AD-7260S-0B 24x Int DVDRWRAM SATA - Black

Case:
Antec DF-10 Midi Tower Case Dark Fleet

PSU:
CiT 750W Power Supply Unit - Black Edition

Thank you!

The only argument that might warrent going for the Phenom II would be that some of the motherboard look awesome :D

That said so do some sandybridge ones and sandybridge wipes the floor with the Phenom II.

I admit, a little piece of me died when I was told.

My poor black Gigabyte/Phenom theme.

Performance trumps aesthetics though, in reality. This is now my mantra.

Thank you all for your help so far, it's been great. I've taken suggestions on-board after doing a bit of research and revamped the build.

Again, I'd like your assistance if I may! Could you argue for/against on the following items and constructively criticize where I might improve and the like?

Motherboard:
Asrock Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard (When it is out...)

NO IDEA! I could really do with some pointers/suggestions/help. I only intend to go single GPU but I want it chunky enough to crunch some of the newer games if I can. (Especially Skyrim when it's out.)

PSU:
CiT 750W Power Supply Unit with PSU and Dual 12V Rails - Black Edition

Many thanks!

If I were you I would change the PSU to either a corsair or a ocz I don't trust the CiT models especially when running a gaming system
