News going around that latest ps3 software 4.45 is bricking ps3 with custom hdd over 500gb. The firmware has now been pulled and gone back to 4.41. But those with psn+ may have it auto downloaded so DO NOT INSTALL if you have it downloaded. It may not affect if you are using a smaller hdd or an official one but prob best not to risk it.

The auto download also installs, however must have been pulled fast since mine didn't download it

Mine was fine this morning - got woken up early by the kitten so watched some stuff on Lovefilm - mine auto-updates around 4am, so must have been pulled before then?

Good job Sony :D hope they are repairing the bricked consoles free off charge :)

Mine had downloaded it but never installed.

Not exactly the best time for this to happen, with millions of people playing The Last Of Us at the moment.

If your console isn't starting up, it should just be a case of installing the fixed version of the update via the recovery menu from a USB stick when it's made available.
