Potential System review **BF3 rig spec req'd**

Hi everyone!

I am about to build myself a new system! My old PC broke so I sold off the parts as I was moving house and getting married and stuff so didn't really miss it. Now I am settled down again I want another PC!

I will mainly be playing BF3 and Diablo III to be fair so just want to be able to run them really well with a view not to require a new build too soon!

Also the next question is I sent my mate the basket I made up and he said I really needed to go water cooled on this spec, is it really necessary though or will this perform fine as it's quite a bit more to add a wc kit.

Any way here is the spec as it stands!

That's a lot of hardware to drive a single 22" monitor! I seems like massive overkill.

Whatever you do I'd get something better than the Agility 3 SSD, the Samsung 830 for example.

So you think I am over speccing by quite a bit then? I would prefer to pay less but just wanted a damn good rig to play on, I don't really need or want a massive monitor I prefer around that size to be fair!

Would you guys spec me something a little more realistic then, I don't really want to go over kill on it for no reason.

it depends how crazy into gaming you are, if you into fps, a gamer screen is good, if not then you can get one that is ips etc and better for general viewing

you should decide this stuff rly

To be fair it's more about the play than the prettyness imo, as said BF3 will be my main game for probably 90% of the time so as long as it plays that and does it well, ie on high and with a good frame rate then I am happy!

As I said tbh I haven't really been into pc's for a bit so it has all moved on so if you think I have up spec'd too much in areas and low spec'd other buts then please feel free to correct me

Hmmmm well looking about I seem to have over spec'd pretty bad on a lot of things so a full rethink is in order.

Any suggestions on a full rig for BF3, I will need everything except a mouse as I still have my Logi G9.

i play a lot fps too and if you go for a gamer screen, 120hz or 144hz then that gets expensive bcos you will want to be running at 150fps...

you can ofcourse get a 60hz and aim for a lower fps, but to decide this early bcos they are totally different pcs and ways of playing fps :)

670 and ability to sli later is most likely sensible but might not be what you want

A higher FPS does sound good tbf and I reckon is exactly what I am after. So on that historic decision on the path to the new rig any suggestions :D

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus VG278HE 27" TRUE 144Hz 3D Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £419.99
2 x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 Windforce 3X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £349.99 (£699.98)
Total : £1,134.07 (includes shipping : £11.75).

and youd still need to turn some detail down, maybe this why your friend mentioned watercooling because when you get into 2 or more gfx cards it starts to make sense

my gaming pc has 1 690 in it and i turn some stuff down, 690 is not a terrible route if you can find them on offer
high fps is expensive and to most people not worth it so erm not many will recommend ><

To be fair by the time I have added a case, cpu, mobo, ram, HDD, keyboard and everything else required then that's looking a bit too rich/out of my range to be fair! Also I definitely don't need/or want a 27" monitor, 23 is pushing my requirement really as I will be sitting fairly close.

Back to the drawing board it is then!
