ok guys so im gona apologise in advance if this post is in the wrong section, but any help would be smashing!

ok so i just got back from a trip to china. it was good. on my travels i bought a 64gb usb stick. i wernt to sure how legit it was gona be but i tried it on a few computers out there and it seemed to tell me it had 64gb of memory

excitedly i gets home and plugs it in to my laptop, avoiding contact with my relatively new custom desktop. it all seemed well, so i added a few files to it which worked great. so i proceeded to open the files, now using my desktop. none of the files would work so i decided to download DivX.

during the setup, i lost internet connection, then the signal to the monitor was lost so naturally i couldn't do anything. i reboot and there is still no signal.
the fans are working at full speed and there is a prolonged beep.

i ran a scan on the drive using my laptop (a pretty standard thing i would do with all new devices, but in the haze of excitement i forgot) which identified 2 trojan files.

so yeah. can anyone help me with this matter??

thanks

E.

p.s. sorry for the long ass story

Was it from a proper store or a market or something? It could have been pre-infected, or picked something up from the computers you tried it on. What OSs are you running?

To be honest it might be coincidental, have you checked your CPU fan is connected etc.?

yeah, picked it up from a market.
er, i'm running windows 7 64bit professional....
it just booted up so im gona give it a look over. hopefully all is ok

Sounds coincidental to me (assuming you have an up to date virus scanner)

A lot of drives that I have seen from markets in Asia seem to have some kind of virus/trojan in the boot.ini file which is rather annoying! (especially on their custom mobile phones they sell)

Have you got motherboard manual, or download the PDF of it from manufacturers website, to check what one long POST beep code means.
