Just got a bump in the sidewall in my mum's Golf after hitting a pothole at work :(

Just put these wheels back on yesterday and I'm absolutely fuming

I'll be speaking to the 'business manager' tomorrow and expecting them to foot the bill.
They've only done 3,000km so at least I only need one, but I know it's going to be over €200 for a 225/40 18 Dunlop SportMaxx. They better have black wheel weights in stock as well..

I think you can claim some money off the council if you can prove it. I'd take a picture of the pothole and measure its depth and write to the council.

Edit: Ok, read it properly now :) Pothole was at work?

Yeah, it was in our carpark. The car park is basically dirt and it's full of holes.
This bit is where the dirt hits the paved section.

I'm not used to the Golf's 18" wheels and I guess I hit one of the holes too fast.
Although 5-10mph is hardly fast now is it?

They've got an account at the local VW garage so I expect them to sort the bill between themselves.

hate to say it but work are likely to tell you to go do one,

car park used at own risk etc etc.

So you're telling us you couldn't avoid a pot hole in a car park?

I'd be far too embarrassed to try and blame a mistake like that on someone else, let alone to try and get them to cough up for it.

Imagine every one of those red circles is a pothole. And I'm not exaggerating.

I've been going in and out of that place every day for 2 years and I do it once with 18" wheels and get an egg. Go figure.

It's very strange, it really is. I must have hit it at a funny angle, or perhaps accelerated too quickly too soon.

Perhaps I take more care in my Z3 than in my mother's GTI :o

It's dirt going onto paved road, so it's a sharp step.

Evidently I was going too fast for the conditions, but I dunno. It's ridiculous quite frankly.

A one inch difference in wheel size? I can't see that being a factor. I would assume work are not going to help you out. I think everywhere I've worked says the car park is to be used at the owners risk, no liability etc.

GAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA.

How embarrassing. No son, you go figure.
Remind me to **** on your doorstep next time you're less than perfect. Oh wait...

To be fair, the pot holes have become much worse since the winter. Either way, it's a ****ing **** take. It's impossible not to drive into a pothole leaving that ****ing area.

The suspension was in ****ing comfort mode as well.

Come on, you drive over these potholes everyday...

Hell, one of my BMW indys drive is literally covered with potholes, you can't angle the car, you can dodge them, you have no choice but to go through these quite literally 3-10 inch deep holes.

Guess what I do when I visit him in any of my cars, go uber slow. No matter what car I have I go slow, E90 I went slow, E39 I go slow, E46 I went slow, Corolla I went slow, Hiace I went slow, I didnt suddenly thing, omgz In a Toyota....immune and go through them at any old speed!

If you've driven over them for 2 years without issue and so has everyone else, I would imagine they'll more than likely tell you to go and fornicate with yourself

Dads Yaris got a chunk bit out of his alloy and punctured tyre from a metal kerb that had bent away from the pavement, just before a narrow bridge section of road. I drove straight down to take a picture of offending kerb, Dad writes to council, new trye and wheel paid for :) The kerb was fixed almost instantly so we wondered if they'd had a few complaints about it that day.

Always worth at least trying

There shouldn't be potentially damaging potholes in the car park though surely?

can have what they want in it ! in our works car park a 6x4bfoot plastic panel blew off the smoking shelter and slightly damaged someones car. him and the union lost his battle because of details in his contract and displayed in the car park about using it ''at your own risk''

I'm mostly angry with myself, as it is technically my fault.
It's just annoying because I've spoken to them many, many times about the state of the car park, and they just fill it with sand and gravel and unsurprisingly that's hardly a long-term solution.

Over 2in deep onto a sharp kerb.
