Potholes:(

I've lost 3 wheels to pot holes and have never been successful in claiming.

They need to be reported to claim, didn't someone set up a website where you could show that you had reported potholes to the council and thus if someone else hit pothole you could look it up and make a sucsefull claim?

In fact, isn't it e site in the Op.

I think you may be thinking of fixmystreet, which was posted on here before.

Though it's completely changed now and half the reports seem to be busybodies demanding that public areas of grass get cut rather than being a tool for reporting pot holes and things.

That's right, no one had reported the 3 I hit other than me obviously, the council then proved that they inspect the road at the correct intervals.

Around me (Uttoxeter) they just stick down some glue and throw gravel all over it to create a new road surface.
It both ruins my paint and the surface does not last. Surface it properly so it lasts much longer and hammer lorry drivers using roads that their loads are too heavy for.

The Mother hit a pothole a few years ago. She needed a new alloy and tyre, a few weeks later a new steering column. The council said that their policy is to check the roads every 6 months and that it was not their problem. She went back to take a photo a few days later and the pothole had been filled?! Surely that is accepting liability?!

Nope, your mum notified them of a pot hole they filled it.
It's only there responsibility if they don't carry out the checks or solve it when notified. Which is why you need sites like the one in the OP, so you know if it's been reported.

This was when she had the Fiesta so must have been 2005 ish time.
I was much younger and had no inflence on the matter :p.

I hit a pothole the winter before last, knackered a 2 month old alloy in the process, was fuming. I sent my claim to the council along with a copy of the receipt for the New wheel bought. Took 9 months, but got the full amount back from their insurers.

Shame by then I'd had an accident and written the car off...

Here's a crazy idea - drive around the pot holes.

There are quite extensive road repairs going on in Glasgow this year, all the main roads around the Southside seem to be getting done and they are getting done pretty quickly. Quite impressed - though who knows how long the repairs will last.

I bust a wheel and track rod end on a pot hole, well it was more like a trench that couldnt be avoided. Phoned council and asked where to send the bill, they gave me their insurers details who issued a cheque and a disclaimer that I had to sign saying I wouldn't make a claim re. that incident again.
