POV 280 GTX

Hi,

My new POV 280 GTX just arrived so i pluged it and i get beeps one long and three short and the card led is red PLEASE HELP.
My system:
FX-55
Asus A8N Sli Deluxe
2GB OCZ gold
Samsung spinpoint 1TB
PSU OCZ 520W powerstream

one long three shorts means GFX not detected, and the red leds as said suggest power issues.

Also even if it's working I don't think your CPU is even close to keeping up with such powerful GFX.

A new mobo + cpu + ram on order soon but anyway that 520w should be enough as i got only one disk one dvd burner 2 fans connected. right?

520W should be fine. Do you have another mobo to test it on? There seems to be quite a few problems with these bargain 280s so it may very well be a dud.

Just to make sure you have both the 6 pins and 8 pins PCIE plugged in? As I'm pretty sure that OCZ powerstream doesn't come with 8-pin PCIE connector.

Is the green light on the back of the card lit? if its red its power

As I know this PSU has 2x6 pin PCIE connectors - did you used a convertor cable to connect PCIE 8 pin cable to the card?

yes i pluged the extra vga molex one to mobo [this one should be used when u want sli setup but anyway] then i pluged pci exp. 6 pin to card and used the 8 pin provided with card as well and still get beep error. then i tryed put some more power on 12v rail as i can changed that at the back of this PSU but still red light.

No i dont have any other mobo to test so i am :mad:

i was lookng forward to test it today.

So what now???

If its red light it is power, you aint giving it enough.....

Maybe the fact that A8N SLi Deluxe is from 2005 means its PCI-E slot doesn't supply enough power (not the PSU connections)

The AN8 should supply enough power over the PCIE slot. It sounds like the card is dead.

I was under the impression that some cards had problems in PCI1.0a slots, have you tried a bios update?

The card needs a 16X PCI-E slot, is yours 16X?

This could be the problem, as i think it works in 1.1 slots but not 1.0

All these GTX 280 graphics cards are made in teh same factory. They are all exactly the same cards, the only difference is the BIOS, the cooler graphics and level of pre-applied overclock.

There is no reason why 'bargain' 280's should be worse than any others.
