amd64 3500
1gb geil value
abit ul8 mobo

any ideas anyone?

cheers

Smacks of underpowered PSU but you say the rails are fine.. hmm, have you had a close look at the card physically, checked the power connector, caps, the fan, sinks etc?

the psu is a new enermax 480w ,it provides 20A to each rail, the only thing i
can think of is that the manual states that the card needs 2 -12v power
connections (theres is only 1 connecter on the card) ,there is a splitter
plug with the card that has 1 female (goes into card), one male (hooks upto
psu) ,and it has another female connector ,however because all the 12v
outlets on the psu are female i cant connect it ,i would need a male to male
adapter to connect it to a different rail (dont think ive seen one of these)

AGP 6800 GT and below should only need a single molex, it was the 6800 Ultra that needed two, is the manual titled POV 6800 series? Would explain it.

Have you checked the other things I mentioned?

yes checked the caps/connecters, fan is working fine ,idle gpu temp is 64 >box just says pov 6800 128mb ,and just shows up as geforce 6800 in device manager, manual says point of view geforce fx &geforce 6 series on the front.

Idle temp is a little high imo, have you checked the fins under the sink cover and the fan blades for dust build up? 6800 128MB must be a vanilla 6800, 99% sure it should only be a single molex, you don't need to use the adapter either right? Could just connect it directly? Make sure it is on a nice free line too if poss :)

I've seen those 6800 reference coolers clogged up with dust a few times, if you haven't take the lid off and check dude :)
