powder coating a dvd drive

i want to make the outside of my sata dvd drive black (not the bezel, the body). how should i go about this? do i send it off somewhere or could i get a good result spraying it myself? sorry im a noob at modding other than a bit of drilling etc.

You'd need to dissasemble the unit and spray the casing I would have thought, it might be tricky to block the vent holes otherwise.

Once you get it off a light sanding, followed by cleaning should give you a good base for the paint coats.

Powdercoating looks great but I think the satisfaction of painting it yourself is worth it.

and if i did decide to get it powder coated, where would i get that done and how much would it cost?
