Poweline question

Had them for a while and they've just started playing up, or just started using them and they've never behaved?

The guaranteed fix is to not use Powerline adapters at all and use cables instead.

Powerline Adaptors do not give a guaranteed connection. Just remember they are a Technology using wires that where designed for Current NOT Data so the connection will never be 100% Stable expect drops and slow throughput.

Over time electrical devices will age and change their electromagnetic interference they give off, adding anything to the same circuit can cause difference in power draw etc wich all can impact the "Data" packets. When using PL adaptors doing regular "Factor Resets/reset up" is a good practice. Ultimately the best practice is if it can be hardwired then hardwire it :)

That is not correct. It is no better/worse than wifi for stability of connection... all dependent on environment.

Not really, in WiFi terms you potentially get what you pay for - it at least has the potential to deliver near what is advertised. This isn’t the case here. All TP-Link powerline adapters 600Mbit and under were sold with a 100Mbit bridge chipset, so even using power lines much loved quoting of full duplex speeds, the maximum you will ever pass to/from LAN is 100Mbit in either direction, so 200Mbit full duplex. That may have changed or be different with other OEM’s, but it sucked. Also even plugging a pair of powerline a into the same double socket rarely gives anything close to the claimed sync speed anyway.

I have them for a couple of years, and it start to drop after first day i buy it.
I try everything i know but nothing fix, just suddenly connection is losted. My room is on 1st floor and wifi router is on basement. So, cable is not a option.

Why isn’t cable an option? The easiest (and most destructive) routing is 10mm hole through outside wall in each room, pass 2 cables through. Terminate cables in surface mount boxes. Fill holes with expanding foam and fit noses to keep the water out. Job jobbed.

Non-destructive option is to tack cable to skirting boards, around door frames and up the stairs then around the door frame and under the door into the room, then along the skirting boards. Terminate in surface mount boxes or with keystone modules to plug cables into. Again, job completed successfully. 1Gbps minimum connection guaranteed. All day, every day.

My parents dont like to do this, so powerline i best option.
At least i dont heard for better.

Yes. I know the response!

Luckily my father is fairly deaf so the first he knew I’d had the drill out was when he told me “The WiFi’s much better today”. Which it was as he had a UniFi FlexHD on the table right next to him. :)

Powerline adapters can be quite sensitive to noisy/dirty lines. If your powerline adapter is plugged in next to an old fridge/freezer you'll be guaranteed poor performance due to all the noise they give off.

I have found even in a wall socket with 4 sockets that 1 performs better than the others so it's always a good idea to test where you can. Sometimes just switching from 1 wall socket to the next can help.

AV500 adapters are old technology. I'd try a modern set (AV1300 or better, and don't just buy the oldest/cheapest examples you can find) purchased from a supplier you know you'll be able to return them to if it doesn't work out.

For Wi-Fi, what's the existing signal like? No one can tell you how well wireless is going to work compared to Powerline, there are too many environmental considerations. What everyone can just about 100% guarantee is that a cabled solution would work without any issues (unfortunately not an option according to earlier posts).

I have a good signal when i use phone in my room.
Problem is in my country the highest number of tp link i can get is 1000, i can buy 1300 online, but i cant then return.
I am not sure should i invest in wifi card on pc or another powerline device.
I am confused, we make a new plugs in house, and now tp link works worse.
Instead of 50, i have 30 mbps.
Earlier i put my whole pc plug socket and then to tp link, so i was think this is problem.
But now when i have new plugs and put tp link alone in plug, it have worse specs.
Sorry for my bad english.
