Hey

Since the prices have come down ive got my eye on a Nvidia GTX 260, though Im only looking at either the Zotac http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-008-ZT&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=927 or if its worth it the extra tenner for the Leadtek http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-151-LT&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=927 , any opinions please? :)

My only other issue is power, if ill have enough that is :P Running Q6600 at stock, 4 sticks of ram at 2.1v, 2 harddrives normal cd/dvd drive and case fans. Using a Tagan 500W U25 which i figure should be ok handling the GTX 260 but I thought it best to ask the more experienced ;)

Oh, and ive seen a few mentions of being able to trade in old parts at OC to get money off new things? If so id be looking to trade in as it were my current 8800 GTS 320mb. Unless if ive just got the wrong end of the stick :)

Sorry for the long post, any help greatly appreciated :)

The PSU should be okay. If you Google for 'psu calculator' you'll find plenty of sites where you can enter your system details and get a recommended PSU capacity.

I've never seen mention of a trade in programme. There is a member's market where people can buy and sell items but you need to have a certain number of posts before you can access it.

According to the online calculator I looked at the OPs machine with the GTX 260 only requires a 400 Watt PSU. Even with an overclock to 3.6GHz the recommended PSU capacity is only just a bit over 500 Watts.

No harm in buying something bigger, but it may well be money wasted.

The 500 Watts quoted by Nvidia can only be a conservative guess as they can't know what the rest of the system comprises of.

The PSU the OP has meets Nvidia's recommendation so why would he need to upgrade?

Just for the hell of it I tried Corsair's PSU wizard and they recommended the VX450, the HX520W and the VX550W. It's in Corsair's interest to sell you the biggest PSU they can justify so they're not going to deliberately underestimate.

awesome, thanks very much guys :)

Any thoughts though on wether its worth the extra tenner for the Leadtek over the Zotac?

Thanks, Lawz
