Hey guys, i'm quite interested in changing my graphics card to a X1900XTX
but i'm not sure if my psu is able to take it, and will i suffer a lot from my cpu bottlenecking the card?
Thanks

My current rig:

A64 3000+ 250mhzx9
Cosair UCCC 250mhz
DFI Lanparty UT NF4-D
7800gt
Coolermaster Realpower 450watts

PSU should be fine.

Your running CPU at over A64 3500+ speeds, so should be fine with the X1900XT too i would imagine. Sure you would get slightly faster frame rates with a quicker CPU, but it shouldnt be hampered too much, & it will be quicker than current GPU.

oh okie, thanks..
oh ya, forget to add that i'm runnin 2XIDE & 1XSATA HDD with 2 DVD rom drives, will that affect the power issue? as if i'm getting the X1900XTX, i will be over budget to get a new psu..
Thanks a lot

I would personally buy the X1900XT (512MB) instead of the X1900XT-X for the sake of saving a bit of money, but your PSU should be perfectly fine assuming it has decent amperage on the 12V rail(s).

I'm running the rig in my signature on an Akasa UltraQuiet 460W PSU with 28A on the 12V rails, but that would be pretty much my limit really.

As i'm living in Singapore, the 512mb version isnt coming in anymore, they only have the 256mb version in stock.. so no choice have to go for the xtx, btw how much improvement from the xtx over the xt?
thanks..

Sorry about that, I assumed that you were from the UK. It's a bad habit. :)

Here is a link to an X1950XT-X review. I know that might sound useless to you, but it also has tons of benchmarks for the X1900XT 512MB and X1900XT-X 512MB in there and it's very recent.

Typically you're going to see only a few FPS difference as the X1900XT-X is practically an overclocked X1900XT.

okie, now i have offers from people to get it 2nd hand..
Should i go for

X1900xt 256mb
or
X1900xtx 512mb?

like what Ulfhedjinn said, the x1900xtx is just a OC version or the xt, so if i would like the extra performance, i can just OC the xt right?

and i'm only running on a 19" monitor 1280x1024, so the 512 isn't really needed for me too right?

The extra memory on the 512MB model won't really make a difference, especially at 1280x1024, and this is coming from an X1900XT 512MB user. The XT will also clock to XT-X speeds without breaking a sweat if you so wish. So my advice would be to buy the cheapest (which I am assuming is the X1900XT 256MB.) :)
