Power but no activity on my PC - Help

Hi all,

Would appreciate any help. I have a desktop PC which is less than 1 year old. Today I was playing on it. Finished. Powered down. All good. came back 3 hours later pressed the on button and nothing.

I have changed sockets, changed power cords, changed the fuses On the power cord. When it is plugged in the the ethernet port flashes but the power on switch does nothing.

Would welcome any thoughts on the issue.

When you say nothing, do you hear any fans spin up or beeps at all? have you taken the side off to see if there is any activity when you press the power button?

Did you buy this prebuilt or build it yourself?
Do you have the specifications and what power supply you have?
 
Some of the possibilities,

Case power switch issue
Psu has a switch, check that
Check internal power connections

Hi. Thanks for coming back.
It was bought from stormforce. There are no beeps or fans starting the only thing that comes on when i switch it on at the back is the Ethernet light. Nothing happens when i press the on button to start the PC. Yes I did take the side off and I checked to make sure all the cables I could see were correctly seated in the motherboard. Does it have any warranty and if so are there any stipulations that may void said warranty?

When you press the power button, does the fan on the PSU try and spin up at all?

I would first try removing the cmos battery for 15 minutes and trying again.
Personally, I would then find the exact cable that is connecting the power switch to the motherboard and touch the 2 pins with a screwdriver (but only do this if you know what you are doing).

To me I suspect a failed PSU, do you have any components you can try such as a different PSU? a different GFX card that takes less power (and is less expensive) whilst troubleshooting?

Hi. Yes it has 2 years left on warranty. I was hoping it would be an easy fix but I don’t think switching out psu‘s is in my skill set :(. Re the power cable to switch. It appears to all be hidden within a casing. Will give the manufacturer a call in the morning. Thank you for trying to help. Much appreciated.

Hi all, Just coming back with what happened. PC is repaired. The motherboard had "Gone". Stormforce fitted a new one and it arrived back yesterday. Now just need to reinstall everything. Thanks again for the help.
