Hi,

I need a power cable to power my DVD writer.

Trouble is.... I'm not sure which one I need but I know I need one that is a 'little' longer than some of the others or that can reach through any multiple connections it has (assuming each additional connection supplies a little more length).

This is my power supply:
Corsair HX 520W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-520HXUK)

This is my DVD: (though Im not sure it will even work nowadays).
Samsung SH-183LBEBN 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA Lightscribe ReWriter (Black) - OEM

Can anyone please advise as to what cable I will need to order.

thanks

Lee

thanks. I'll try and open up the machine to see how much more length it requires.

Not to doubt you though, but my memery suggests that the main connections are square(ish) like ends.... I'll try and find a picture to show.

This is the connection type I have on my PSU (at least that is what a remember without taking it apart).

(not sure how to post a basket)

lee32uk is correct. You need either a Sata to Sata extension or a Molex to Sata extension. You then connect that to one of the current molex or sata connections on one of your current PSU power cables. This will simply extend the length of one connector.

It is not going to connect to the actual PSU, just one connector on one cable.

thank you gents.

I was able to open the machine and thanks to your posts was able to identify what I missed before.

Order placed!

cheers.
