Not used one before, have the chance to pick one up VERY cheapily.

Are they any good without putting the bike on the dyno or are they pointless unless you dyno the bike?

Unless the PC is stupidly cheap, it's actualy cheaper to have someone dyno the bike and have a custom map loaded onto the bikes own ECU. For the simple reason that the bikes own ECU has 1000's of registers for fuel settings (among other things), as against the few hundred that a PC has.

I looked at this today and it will cost around 500 quid!
 
Right, spoke to Moto Rapido this morning after the bike running like a dogs backside last night and conking out everytime I came to a stand still.

I have a Termi's DP ECU installed which allows a full range of mapping (OEM only allows anything above 20% throttle and above 5500 rpm, termi allows complete custom on all ranges).

So, when I told them that they said bring it in, will take a hour and a half'ish and will do a complete custom map and fuel setup for me FOC due to warrenty.

So get involved I guess! Don't know why I just didn't ring them before hand lol.

Taking it in on Friday at 1430.
 
No, as I said the original owner had termi slip on kit installed from what looks like day one.

The kit includes a race air filter, termi Ducati performance ecu setup fr the final part which is the open end termi cans.

The termi system does not require the O2 sensor to be installed so that gets removed.

The original OEM ecu is only programmable above 5500rpm and 20%, this is due to the OEM ecu depending on the O2 sensor for that range.

So, the termi ecu not needing the O2 sensor is because it is fully mappable. Exactly the same as a PC just not with the fancy user software and on the fly buttons. However still mappable by e dealer/professionals just the same as PC.

That is what I am getting done under warranty on Friday, should take hour and a half they said.
 
The remap went amazingly, bike is 10 times smoother and I no longer dred the downrun to lights, nor town riding! It's still not perfect, but much better. The peak readout was 158, I am still waiting for them to send me the full printouts.

I suggested getting a PCIII to them and they said there is no point due to the Ducati racing ECU being much more specific when it comes to mapping.

I am to give it a few hundred miles of riding, come back and tell them what I think. If I feel it needs more adjustment they will do another mapping free of charge :)
