I've just found out that my motherboard has an extra molex power connector for sli/Xfire.
Is there a benefit to using this extra power connector ?

Motherboard is an ASROCK Z68 Extreme 4 Gen 3

As far as I'm aware it's for stability which may be needed when clocking the nuts off the cards. I have a modest OC on my 670 SLI setup and my MSI MB has the same connector - no diff with it connected or not and I couldn't find any stability increase when trying to push the cards as much as they could go.

If you get lucky and your GPU/Memory can obtain uber OCs then the extra power might be beneficial.
