Looking at all the offers currently going on, just before the new batch of cards comes out in the near future this got me wondering which cards I'd be able to run with my current power supply and also with the available power connectors.

I currently have a 8800GTX with 2 6pin connectors and also have another 6pin spare, each having its own rail of 18amps. I'm using a 850watt Coolmaster Real Power Pro.

First off, how and can I convert one of my 6pin to a 8pin for newer cards? (would this come in the box also?)
Plus is 36amps (from both 6pins) enough to run some of the newer top of the range cards?

2x 6 pin pci-e can be converted to a 8 pin and the Amps needed atm is around 30A so should be fine.

The 4890 needs 1 6 pin and 1 8 pin for power so it around there atm and i would expect the same to be true with the 5800's when they come out.

Thats great thanks, I'm guessing that everything I need will be within the box to change over to 8pins?

Also, whats the point of 8pin, if its just a converted 6pin? Not like the cards getting anymore power :\
