Just thought you mind find this interesting.

Just bought a power meter and thought I would measure the power use of my quad and server.

My server on Auto at Stock

P5W64 Pro
3Gigs of Ram @ 667
2180 MO @ 2Ghz
2x WD 500GB RE2 in raid mirror config
ATI X500 128MB

At idle it uses 88 Watts upto 125 watts load

-----------------------

My Quad Q6600 GO running at 3.0ghz at 1.128
431 x7
P5K Delux
4 gigs of ram @ 862 4-4-4-12
Watercooling with D5 pump
XFI
2x WD 500GB RE2
6x 120mm Fans
7600GS - GTS 512 tomorrow

Idle 164 watts
priming 233 watts
3D mark 06 195 watts

Quite impressed to be honest.

Will see how the GTS effects power consumption tomorrow

That is really interesting 'The Asgard'. That's info that I find very helpful indeed. Presumably that quad is biggest difference affecting pwr usage?

That just makes my mind up then, I think I will go 2180 until the penryns come out (and hope that they are even better on energy consumption (yes....I am 'Green-Gamer' lol)

Running the Quad at 1.1 volt helps an aweful lot. considering the difference between the 2180 M0 I think the quad is amazingly efficient in the direct comparison with my server.
