Had a power cut last night whilst using the computer, when the power came back on i tried to start the computer but it won't power up.

When the power lead is pluged in the light on the motherboard is on, so i presume that there is power going to the motherboard but when i press the power up button nothing happens. Every so often the cpu fan will spin a little but then stops.

Does anyone have any idea what is wrong or is my computer dead.

Cheers

Was this a power cut in your home or just regarding your PC? I would try resetting CMOS this may allow you to power through POST.

Cheers for the replies.

Looks like it has killed my psu, as a tried an old one and the comp worked fine. This was a full power cut not just to my computer.

So much for my surge protector, load of NO SWEARING that is.

Cheers

Aye, I had a power cut kill a PSU before, right pain in the rear! I wasn't on a surge protector though, that's a bit of a kick in the unmentionables right there. :(

(Edit the sweary in your last post, bad language = naughty :))
