This will be straight forward to a lot of you but my electrical skills amount to wiring up a new light fitting, fitting a new bathroom extractor fan and wiring a plug!

Basically, I have a dog kennel that is around 2-3m from a waterproof wall plug socket and I want to add permanent power to it (low power draw.)

I would like to connect this:

up to this:

The waterproof socket is connected to a separate consumer unit with RCD in the garage and the 4 gang adapter would be
on the inside of a wooden dog kennel (so protected from the elements) like this:

I have some 1.5mm SWA cable at home already but read that SWA can't be connected directly to a 3 pin plug.

Would normal power cable and some ducting suffice?

Any help is appreciated!

Ha!

I don't have a dog....it will all be revealed when it gets finished but you're more than welcome to guess! :)

Don't peeps normally use the the loft? then again sticking it in a kennel is a great idea to throw them off the scent, but you would need more than 1.5mm SWA.

I'm not an electrician but I would guess the only way for it to comply with regs would be to have another waterproof socket fitted. The cable you're referring to I suspect is too small, I think sockets need 2.5mm. It won't fit into a plug if it's solid core cable as it's intended as infrastructure cabling rather than stranded flex.

I'd have thought your best bet is to create a new spur off the cable feeding the current outside socket (inside the garage) and then run an armoured cable to the kennel and install a new waterproof socket in there.

Having the 4 gang extension in the kennel which isn't weather proof (due to the hole) is asking for trouble, but if you go this way then definitely use something like this to keep the 4 way in
