Power killed

I'm trying to do a higher overclock on my cpu at the moment. I got upto 4ghz ok but now I'm upto 4.3ghz and while it's still going ok something different is happening. When I was going upto 4ghz if I ever restarted my pc or exited the bios the fans and all the power stayed on. But now I've overclocked higher whenever I restart or exit the bios all the power goes off and the fans stop, then it all restarts as normal.

Is this normal or have I done something wrong?

Just wanted to make sure it wasn't doing something harmful as I'm still a bit of a noob at this.
