looking to get another psu.

currently running an 3570k @ 4.3.

16gb 1600mhz.

1 ssd, 1 hdd.

4 fan.

no gpu yet. So just the basics right now.

What would be a rough guess on the power levels at this point?

Are their benefits of having gold, bronze, etc. is saving money the only benefit from gold over bronze or does it increase anything else too?

Apt username strikes again :D

Why are you recommending a 650w power supply? For what the OP has so far a decent 300w power supply would be plenty.

OP - It all depends on the GPU you choose and your future upgrade plans. If you're after a gaming setup with a 270X or similar then a quality 550w will be ample. The 650w unit spec'd above will be fine for any single GPU card setup. If you plan on going SLI then you'll perhaps need something bigger.

Also remember that overall wattage is only half the story. Powerful GPUs stress the 12V rail so a cheap 550W may not output enough stable voltage to power a mid range graphics card where-as a quality branded 450W will.

For your info this is what a typical full system using a 3570K will draw. As you can see, not much.

i specced the 650 for a bit of headroom if he does decide to get a better gfx card and overclock cpu/gpu
i was going to specc the 550 first..maybe i should have done that instead! it doesnt hurt to have more than enough power but it does hurt if you have less than enough :p

Plenty, you be pulling around 350w (a tad more with a 290) from the mains with your system and one of them cards.

The spec in my sig pulls less than 500W at max load and has considerably more in it than yours. I'm the same processor and RAM but I have 1 SSD, 3 HDDs, a sound card, and 8 fans, 5 of which are LED. That should give you an idea. I run an AX760 and looking back it was complete overkill. At the minute you could easily power that off a 300W as others have said. Anything in the 500-650 region will give you plenty of headroom for even the most powerful GPUs.The only time you would need to consider going above a 650 is if you plan to SLI.

No harm over-speccing somewhat on the PSU, its an important part of the system and you want it running cool, quiet and with as clean power output as possible. Not to mention some headroom for possible future upgrades and a buffer against long term degredation.

Hmm, that's what I'm thinking. Been reading different posts with some saying 650 is too little and other saying is perfectly fine.

So with that in mind, I'm almost on my final choice Huzzah :D

I haven't seen many people recommend Corsair psu's (which i thought was good),

mostly Superflower and Seasonic. Is there a reason why?
