hey there,

i removed the fan to clean it not realising that it unplugs from the mobo.
the only way to fix this (?) is to slot it back in.

i find this worrying, as by doing that you cannot see if the plug is connecting back properly.

from what i can see, this is the only way?

i'm worried about booting ip up and the fans not coming on, possibly damaging the mac.

can anyone verify if this is no problem?

this is my old computer, as i have been using my pc for the last few years.

as a result, my knowledge of macs is slightly rubbish.

see the video at 38secs in:

If the fan assembly is seated correctly, everything will screw back in as it was and there will be no problem, chill out :)

cheers for getting back to me :)

there are no screws holding the fan assembly.

it just pulls out.

if you look at that video at 38secs onwards, you see him pull it out.

it looks like this: [then again, i assume you know what i'm talking about ;)

it's just that there is no room to use your fingers to insert the fan cable into the mobo yourself, as it is firmly attached to the fan.
it's almost as if it's a leap of faith, and you just have to push the fan back in and hope the fan plug slots into the mobo correctly.

You should feel it "slot" in to place once the connector hits, you also wont be able to put the g5 shroud back on or the plastic clear cover properly if they're not in, honestly, I think you are worrying over nothing!

Even if they aren't slotted in to place you aren't going to destroy your computer in a few seconds, just power it off, reseat the fans, try again.
