Power on 10 sec then off XP build HELP!

Hope this is the right forum sons pc has just developed this strange fault and I am at a loss as to figure out what the problem is .. was working fine then came to power it on and after 10 sec the power just goes off doesnt even get to post ..so I borrowed a working PSU and installed that but still you can power the pc on and after 10 sec it just powers off. fans and everything kick in on the mobo but then nothing .. Like I said doesnt get to post there have been no hardware or software changes made to this pc. is this something to do witht the Cmos? or can anyone else advise on what to try next. Run XP home with SP3 installed if this is of use.

Sounds like the graphics card may have gone I'd try and use another graphics card or try the card on another pc.

And it still could be a power supply issue even though you tried another is that one good enough to power it ?

could be the motherboard but yeh try a diff gfx card first but tbh if there are no beeps its the mobo
