I Have a router and fibre modem in my hallway. From the router this goes into a power plug.............The speed from the fibre direct from the router is nearly 40mb some times more.

I then have a power plug behind the TV for sky etc.

I then have one in the kids playroom with a wifi hot spot built into it.

The playroom is about 4' away from the house and has mains properly connected to it with its own fusebox etc.

The speed in the playroom has dropped and is now between 1 and 3mb which virtually unusable for now tv etc and the upload is about 1.5mb

The speed has been fine for over a year and all of a sudden it has dropped to this level.

Ive tried fiddling around and resetting etc.

Does anyone have any ideas as because of this the expensivly built and kitted out playroom is barely being used. IN fact im sitting here with a coffee and the laptop myself:D

Please bare in mind im not a techie.

Thanks

Tried swapping the adapters round? Or using them in different sockets to see if it's an issue with the adapters themselves or something else on the circuit?

yer i have the same problem with homeplugs.
some rooms i will get <1mb other rooms speed is fine but will drop off now and then, then on top of that some wall sockets wont even get a connection.
Its really annoying cus the rooms i need to use the homeplugs in are the rooms where they dont work. i have never been able to figurer out why.

I had a similar issue, what powerlines are you using? I was using netgears av500mb and all of a sudden speed dropped. I tried everything and still didn't work.. I managed to return them to netgear and they found a fault on them and replaced them with new ones.. when they arrived I sold them and got myself a set of tp-link 500mb and works perfectly, I new it was they wiring as it's a brand new house.

Funnily enough these are netgear av200's

Regarding swapping them around its a bit pointless as the wireless hotspot is where its needed in the exterior playroom.

BUT i will do it just to eliminate the problem. I have tryed hardwiring use the lan port as well and its the same. The only other i could do is to drill a hole in the wall when the missus isnt around lol
