I have bought a new TV which needs to connect to a freeview recorder. The freeview recorder does not have an HDMI socket, so i got a lead with HDMI on one end and a scart on the other. It works.

However, part of this HDMI - scart lead has a 2nd part which needs to connect to a usb power point.

I used a standard mobile phone plug,is this safe to leave turned on all the time rather than have to constantly switch the freeview recorder off. Or would i be better getting one of the above on.Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/ameego®-Charger-Adapter-Compatible-Samsung/dp/B00L9SZIPO/ref=asc_df_B00L9SZIPO/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309924738384&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4666383884098340816&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046774&hvtargid=pla-562964372350&psc=1

Does the freeview recorder have a USB out you can use to power the HDMI / Scart lead?

Other then this, I don't like unbranded USB adapters (could over heat / put out wrong voltage / don't trust cheap brand Chinese). I would trust one from a leading brand, I have some Amazon fire ones that I confirm are good quality.

Thank you Jason. Its at my girlfriends, I'll have a look and get back to you. The plug being used is a spare fast charge branded samsung as she had a spare one from her mobile or tablet, plugged into a multi socket which also has TV, Freevier recorder and Blue Ray player plugged into it. There is no other wall socket within reach to seperate them. I did however, think of this, would this do the job and be safe ?

I'm sure it would be fine, as it has to meet UK standards. The surge part of them will be very basic, but again it should be ok.

EDIT. I'll give you the tip off for when choosing USB type devices or chargers. Look at all the reviews and check no one reports the product is overheating, if there is a high number of reviews and no one mentions overheating then the product is probably ok.
