power problems

ive attempted to build my own pc(first attempt), specs are:-

intel core2duo e6600 lga775 conroe
asus P5B deluxe motherboard
2gb geil pc6400
connect3d ati radeon x1900xt
seagate barracude sata hard drive
nec ad7170a dvd+rw
hiper 580w psu
thermaltake vc30000bws armour supermidi tower

ive had no trouble gettin it all in the case and getting the power one, but im now startin to struggle, first i can get power to the whole computer, fans work and 'asus' lights up on mother board,i can also get power to the dvd drive (green light on front, opens up) but as soon as i attach it to the mother board it stops workin (no green light on front of drive). same with gaphics card, powers there but nothings showin up on moniter

any ideas?

have you definately plugged in ALL the cables at the same time? that includes the large 24pin cable to the motherboard and the supplementary 4/8pin cable, the graphics card pci-e power cable, the hdd's power cables, (sata/molex) and tried booting?

thanks for the quick reply, seemed i put in the 24 pin connecter but not the 4 pin on the left hand side of the board
