Hi I'm building a computer and the current spec is:

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz
BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB
Abit AW9D-MAX Intel 975X
Thermaltake VA8003BWS Armour Super Tower
OCZ 1GB (2 x 512MB) PC2-8000 Dual Channel XTC Platinum Series
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB ST3320620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache
Big Typhoon VX CPU Cooler

My question is, will the "Hiper HPU-4K580-MK Type R 580W Modular ATX2.2 PSU" be enough to power this PC?

Thanks,

Paddy :)

If you don't already have it i suggest you get a decent psu from the likes of Seasonic, OCZ, Enermax, Corsair etc. The Hipers are rubbish. To start with a lot of them have been blowing up after 12-16 months and sometimes taking other components with them. Add to that the Hiper cannot output it's claimed maximum of 580w and it is extremely innefficient and you have a rubbish psu that will sooner or later blow up. Just search the forums for "Hiper" and you will see for your self.

If you already have it i suggest you sell it and do as above as soon as possible. Yes it should power all of that but don't say you have'nt been warned.

Ok, thanks for the warning! :) I'll look around for something different then. Also, is everything I listed compatible? and should I get Vista Home Premium 64 or 32 bit edition?

you do realise it's actually illegal to build a new rig with only 1gb of ram. you now require 2gbs by law. :p

all joking aside you really do need 2gb especially to go with that beast of a gpu you've picked there. :)
