what do you need it for?

I need to know if 400W will be powerful enough for my new build (see details in my sig).
I am looking for a modular PSU with stable voltages and a reasonably "green" footprint, so it doesn't suck down enormous amounts of power unnecessarily.
Having read a few reviews for this thing, I am pretty impressed by it. Just need to know if 400W would enough to power my new build.

no it won't
you will need a 500w psu for that, preferably the corsair 520w or if on a budget the huntkey 550w

a PSU only takes as much power as it needs.
And PSUs are more efficient when they are not working close to their maximum output.
So a 1000W PSU will be more efficient that a 400W PSU if 380W are being used.

Did you go for the Enermax in the end? As I would recommend them (Noisetaker range) or the Corsair HX520
I've settled for the Corsair HX520, because the Enermax SATA cables have 4-Pin Molex attached to them. This makes things a bit messy and IMHO defeats the purpose of a modular PSU.
So it's Corsair all the way.
